How long has Dr. Joe been practicing dentistry?

Our Services
Do you offer whitening
services?
Yes, we have a number of whitening
options to get your teeth sparkling! Our options include ZOOM
2® Chairside Tooth Whitening (as seen on the television series "Extreme
Makeovers") as well as Night White® and Day White® at-home tooth whitening systems.
Can you replace
my silver fillings?
It is ideal to keep dental restorations, provided they are
good, for as long as possible. If they need replacing and
you are considering tooth coloured restorations, then the
type of restoration can be discussed. CEREC®
computer-assisted technology provides all-ceramic restorations,
milled in-house while you wait. Changing silver fillings for
cosmetic reasons is an individual choice and should be weighed
against potential negative outcomes.
Do I have to have
x-rays?
X-rays aid in a full diagnosis and treatment plan but the
number, type and frequency are based on individual needs which
will be discussed when you visit the practice. Our office
utilizes digital x-ray technology, which reduces radiation
exposure.
Do you straighten teeth?
We offer Invisalign®, an alternative to traditional braces. Invisalign® gradually straightens your teeth through a series of custom-made, nearly invisible Aligners. Invisalign® Aligners are removable so you can brush and floss normally, helping to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Do you make dentures?
Yes, we make dentures and have a denturist on site.
Cost and Payment Options
How much is a cleaning?
The cost of a cleaning will depend on the status of your teeth
and gums, and how long it has been since you last saw a dentist.
Please feel free to call our office and speak with a team
member to discuss your needs.
Do you bill my
insurance company directly?
Our patients are responsible for payment at the time of treatment.
However, if you are covered by a dental insurance plan and
bring in your insurance information, we will gladly submit
your claim and depending on your plan provider, we may be
able to submit it electronically. With electronic claim submission,
many patients find they often receive reimbursement within
one week from their plan provider.
Do you give a senior's
discount?
Yes, we offer a senior's discount of 10% to patients who are
60 years of age and older, regardless of their dental insurance
coverage.
I don't have insurance,
can I obtain a discount?
As a courtesy, we extend a 10% discount to all patients for
pre-payment of restorative services, regardless of their dental
insurance coverage. However, the 10% pre-payment discount
cannot be combined with the 10% seniors discount.
What forms of payment
do you accept?
We accept Interac (debit), VISA, MasterCard, and American
Express credit cards, as well as cash.
For more information about insurance, please
refer to "Dental Insurance
Plans" portion of the site.
Dental Emergencies
What do I do if I have a dental emergency?
We hope you never find yourself in a dental emergency. If
you do, however, call our office immediately. In addition,
here are some general guidelines to follow:
1.
|
If you have severe, constant
pain, call our office as soon as possible to arrange an
appointment.
|
2.
|
If you have swelling,
do not apply hot or cold compresses. Call our office.
If the swelling progresses to the point where it begins
to close an eye or interfere with swallowing or breathing,
go to a hospital immediately.
|
3.
|
If you have experienced
a blow to the face, with or without obvious damage to
your teeth, the teeth should be examined for internal
fractures as soon as possible. If your mouth is bleeding,
apply pressure.
|
4.
|
If a tooth has been knocked
out, it may be possible to reinsert it within two hours
of the accident. Keep the tooth moist (place in a container
of milk) and do not attempt to wipe or clean it, especially
not the roots. Call our office immediately to arrange
an appointment.
|
5.
|
If the tooth has been
broken or chipped, call our office. Try to locate the
missing piece and bring it with you. |
We have specific times throughout the day, which we reserve
for emergencies. When you call, we will arrange to see you
as quickly as possible.
If our office is closed, call:
|
The Dental Emergency Service,
at 416-485-7121 |
|
or, go to a downtown Toronto
hospital. |
Appointments
Do you see kids? If
so, how old should they be for their first visit?
We do see children, and The Canadian Dental Association recommends
children make their first trip to the dentist within six months
of getting their first tooth, or by one year of age. Many
parents bring their children with them to their appointments
in order to get children used to the dental office environment.
How often should I
see my dentist? Do I need to see a dentist if everything feels
okay?
Most patients visit every three to six months, depending on
the condition of their teeth and gums. There are a number
of things a dentist or hygienist can see that you can't, including
root cavities, decay under the gum line, cavities under existing
filling and early signs of gum disease or oral cancer. Our
team can discuss the schedule best suited for you. Please
refer to "Our Continuing
Care Program" portion of the site.
What information
is required for my first appointment?
We will need your full name, age, type of appointment desired,
and when you last saw a dentist. If you have coverage through
a dental insurance plan, please bring your group policy number,
insurance company name, and your certificate number.
